Webinar recording: Shared Access to the Patient Portal for Older Adults (3)

29 January, 2023

Shared and proxy records may link nicely to discussions about compassion in healthcare? A family doctor, specialist doctor, health visitor, nurse, mental health worker may jointly only see a "patient" 10 to 20 times in a year for perhaps 20 hours in all whereas the patient and family and community live with the patient and the patient's problems 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Shared access allows parents of under 13s/16s/18s (depending on national laws, children of parents who lack capacity, spouses, partners, friends and even communities of patients with incapacitating, dangerous, life threatening diseases or disabilities to share the requirements of and knowledge about the condition(s) of their "loved", "cared for" (compassion) people for the rest of the time when the loved/cared for people are not under the direct face to face supervision of health and social care workers.
