A special issue on Geriatric Oncology in resource-limited settings has just been published in ecancer. The issue includes essential data regarding global cancer and aging, and highlights various initiatives aimed at providing high-quality care for older adults with cancer worldwide.
Geriatric Oncology is not a luxury for low and middle income countries, but rather a necessity, and the oncology community needs to make this one of its priorities. In an aging world, there is an incredible need for all stakeholders in low-resource settings, including patients, caregivers, clinicians, and policymakers, to join together to increase the geriatric competencies of the workforce and the capabilities of healthcare systems to provide care for older patients.
The special issue is guest edited by Dr Enrique Soto-Perez-de-Celis (Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Medicas y Nutricion Salvador Zubiran, Mexico) and Dr Eduardo Cazap (SLACOM, Argentina) and is fully open access
