This year WHO celebrates its 75th birthday. HIFA is proud to be working with WHO since 2006, and in official relations since 2022

An interesting short video:
Summary
2023 will mark the 75th year of the World Health Organization. The world has achieved many public health milestones in these 75 years. In Science in 5 today we will take a look into the future - to understand what are the innovations we can expect and what will be some of our biggest challenges. Here to paint us a picture of what Health for All would look like in the future is WHO's Chief Scientist, Dr Soumya Swaminathan.
Dr Swaminathan looks 20-25 years into the future. Sh rightly starts by emphasising the importance of housing, renewable energy, running water and empowered CHWs, and she makes two points that are particularly relevant to HIFA:
1. She reconfirms the importance of people having access to the latest healthcare information
2. She draws attention to misinformation and suggests the best way to handle this is by building scientific literacy, startign from schoolchildren
When I look 20-25 years into the future (or indeed 10 years) I would like to see a world where lack of availability and use of reliable healthcare information is no longer a major contributor to avoidable death and suffering. All citizens, health workers and policymakers will have access to the information they need to protect their own health and the health of others. Leadership by WHO will have enabled a more coordinated and focused collective effort to accelerate progress towards universal access to reliable healthcare information, with HIFA playing a catalytic and supportive role. Such high-level political (and financial) commitment for universal access is critical.
What would you like to see?
Best wishes, Neil
