Please join us for this UHC /NHI Forum webinar on 'Power and the policy making process in a health system' hosted by the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC).

The webinar will cover policy-making processes within a health system and how policy actors use their power within context to influence policy change. We will discuss empirical evidence of how various policy actors used their sources of power to effect change within a health system.

Speaker - Dr Augustina Koduah

Augustina Koduah is a senior lecturer and researcher in health policy and systems and pharmacy practice. She obtained a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, a Master of Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the Wageningen University and Research Centre. She is currently the head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Pharmacy based at the University of Ghana and formerly worked as a senior program officer for the Ghana Ministry of Health Medicines Policy Directorate.

HIFA profile: Simon Lewin is a health systems researcher at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) (https://www.ntnu.edu/employees/simon.lewin), the South African Medical Research Council (www.mrc.ac.za) and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (https://www.fhi.no/en/kn/ceir/). He has a keen interest in how research evidence can be used to inform decisions for health systems in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and at the global level in multilateral organisations such as the WHO. As Co-Lead of Cochrane People, Health Systems and Public Health, he has played a key role in strengthening Cochrane’s work in the field of health systems and in developing Cochrane methods for qualitative evidence synthesis.
