I am pleased to inform that COMSATS is organizing a webinar titled, “Building Climate resilient Health Systems in the Global South”, on Wednesday, April 6th , 2022 at 10am-12pm GMT. The event will be a part of activities to celebrate the World Health Day that falls on 7th April every year. This year, the theme of World Health Day: “Our planet, our health”, calls the governments and organizations to become an advocate of “act for climate, act for health”.

The growing threats of climate change, global warming and environmental degradation pose severe impacts on human health and consequently health systems. As per WHO, globally 13 million people lose their lives annually owing to climate mediated health threats i.e. air pollution, extreme weather events, migration, food insecurity and mental health. Global South is the most vulnerable region of the world facing severe impacts of climate change. These countries has inefficient health systems to withstand against disasters of climate change. The purpose of the webinar to bring together international experts from various regions throughout the globe to highlight health adaptation measures and mitigation strategies to address the climate owed challenges to health systems especially in the South. Speakers will be touching upon the challenges faced, strategic approaches and the possible solutions in various spheres of health systems to make them Climate resilient and sustainable.
