Updated HIFA Strategy 2022-2024 and WHO Collaboration Plan

24 December, 2023

Dear HIFA colleagues,

Season's greetings.

On behalf of the HIFA steering group, please find here an updated version of the HIFA Strategy 2022-2024.

This includes a new short section on our WHO Collaboration Plan.

The Collaboration Plan consists of 10 activities. The first of these is our Global Stakeholder Consultation on Universal Access to Reliable Healthcare Information. The preliminary results are here:

https://www.hifa.org/sites/default/files/publications_pdf/HIFA-survey-pr...

and we are currently working with our partners to prepare a report for WHO.

We are grateful to several organisations and individuals for their amazing support of Activity 1, who are acknowledged here:

The WHO Collaboration Plan in full is available on the WHO website here:

https://publicspace.who.int/sites/GEM/official_relations_details.aspx?id...

The 10 activities are:

1. Global stakeholder consultation

2. Identify concrete actions to achieve universal access to reliable healthcare information

3. Conduct an analysis on the impact of commitments made by relevant stakeholders

4. Support WHO’s work to understand healthcare information needs

5. Support WHO publications, information and public health messages

6. Support WHO publications in languages other than English

7. Identify priority languages

8. Support WHO’s advocacy efforts on multilingualism in global health.

9. Collect information about healthcare information needs

10. Support WHO’s outreach, communication and advocacy activities

HIFA alone is responsible for securing the financial and in-kind support to deliver these activities.

In 2024 we aim to focus on Activities 2 and 3, while advocating for WHO to explicitly champion the goal of universal access to reliable healthcare information and convene stakeholders to develop a global strategy.

If you or your organisation are open to the possibility of collaborating with us on the above, please let me know and I shall ensure you are kept informed.

Best wishes, Neil
