Health literacy and misinformation
To mark Health Information Week 2025, PIF is hosting a webinar exploring misinformation and health literacy. The webinar, which is free to attend, will offer key insights into the latest research on information access, its impact and the harms of health misinformation.
The event builds on data released in December from our consumer research with Ipsos which found 1 in 2 people struggles to find trusted health information and 1 in 10 people said they had been affected by misinformation. The report is free to access here. It is based on a representative sample of 2000 UK adults.
The expert panel of speakers at our January event includes:
• Sophie Randall, PIF
• Dr Emma McClaughlin, Nottingham University
• Dr Rebecca West, Ipsos
• Dr Stephanie Alice Baker, City University
• Dr Peter Smith, Self Care Forum
Health Information Week is a national, multi-sector campaign. It promotes high-quality information for patients and the public. PIF is a partner in the week which runs 20-26 January 2025. This webinar will coincide with the theme for Thursday, 23 January – Health Literacy and Misinformation.
