Soliciting caregiver mental health implementation case studies

4 March, 2021

Dear colleagues:

My name is Debjeet Sen and I work for PATH. I am currently co-chairing the Caregiver Mental Health Implementation Taskforce that is led by Food for the Hungry. The Taskforce is currently soliciting case studies on caregiver mental health interventions from around the world-with a focus on low- and middle-income settings, especially in sub-Saharan Africa. The Taskforce will work to compile these case studies onto a common landing page for implementers to be aware of how implementers are addressing caregiver mental health.

We are casting a very wide net at this point. As such, we are soliciting case studies on interventions from the past ten years to present that have taken place at large scale, as well as those that have been implemented at limited pilot scale. We are looking for examples that are nascent or completed, stand-alone project or integrated into a larger initiative, well-documented or not. We are interested in interventions using a variety of touchpoints and implementation platforms-be it health facilities, home visits by community volunteers and social workers, schools, religious institutions, peer support groups, economic strengthening groups, cash transfer schemes, and social protection committees, to cite a few examples.

We are looking for case studies that focus on the mental health of primary caregivers such as mothers and fathers, as well as mental health of secondary caregivers such as grandparents and extended family members. At the same time, we are looking for interventions that have been shown to directly impact/improve mental health of caregivers, as well as those whose primary intent was not to impact/improve mental health of caregivers but which still impacted/improved mental health of caregivers.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best, Debjeet.
