Dear CHIFA members
Bangladesh is currently combating its most severe measles outbreak in decades. As of mid-June 2026, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has recorded over 84,000 suspected cases and 648 suspected and confirmed deaths. Over 80% of infections and fatalities are among children under the age of five.
Following are some news headline and publications highlighting the situation.

Many of the children who died from confirmed measles were below nine months of age, government data showed, meaning they were not yet eligible for routine vaccination.
