Subject: [hifa] COP 28

Dear Colleagues,

I trust this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you that I will be representing Monash University as part of the delegation attending COP28 in Dubai this year. This conference holds particular significance as it coincides with the Global Stocktake (GST), marking a crucial juncture for global initiatives in combating climate change.

This year's COP is of special importance to Monash University as it marks the inaugural year of our University hosting a Pavilion in the UNFCCC-managed Blue Zone. In light of this, we are diligently curating an agenda that reflects the urgency of the current moment and underscores our shared responsibility as a global community to mitigate and address the climate crisis.

I am honored to be organizing three sessions for the event, details of which are provided below. In this regard, I am reaching out to inquire whether any HIFA/CHIFA members hailing from low-resource settings or the Global South plan to attend COP28 in person. If so, I would be keen to connect with them to explore the possibility of their participation in the panels and workshops I am organizing. Alternatively, if you are aware of individuals attending the conference who may be interested, I would greatly appreciate your assistance in facilitating an introduction.

Session Details:

3rd December, 2023.

WORKSHOP: "Plugging the Healthcare Workforce Brain Drain for Climate Adaptation," aims to raise awareness of the challenges associated with healthcare workforce migration in the context of climate change. It seeks to foster understanding, explore mitigation strategies, promote climate adaptation education, facilitate collaboration, and empower participants to take action, ultimately driving positive change in healthcare systems to enhance resilience in the face of climate challenges.

PANEL: In this 60-minute event "Nurturing the Future: Maternal and Child Health in a Changing Climate" , we delve into the nexus of climate change and maternal and child health. Participants will gain insight into the challenges and solutions, empowering them to take collective action for a sustainable and resilient future, ensuring the well-being of mothers and children in a changing climate.

PANEL-AUDIENCE EVENT: "Digital Health Solutions for Climate Change Resilience: Adapting and Mitigating the Impact" is focused on the intersection of digital health and climate change, aims to heighten awareness, ignite discussions, inspire innovation, and facilitate collaboration among participants and experts. It offers a platform for structured dialogue and engagement, addressing vital questions surrounding digital health solutions for climate resilience. I eagerly await your response and appreciate your assistance in advance. Please feel free to contact me with any inquiries or for further details.

Kind regards,
