Hello,
Thank you for this great idea, I am a Public Health Officer and the Head of
school health program in the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, in Turkana
County.
I have instituted a strategy schools intergrated medical outreaches where
health care workers in line community units and health facilities conduct
SIMOs, in link schools.
The teams comprises of medical teams, for diagnosis,
treatment and referrals, health education team, for health promoting sessions
and mentorship teams, the mentorship team is composed of six youth with
varying talents, they compose songs, poems and essays targeting adolescents
and children at poberty stages.
The ministry of health, courtesy of USAID Nawiri, launched the first SIMOs in
five primary schools and two secondary schools, from 27th to 31st March 2023
The strategy was lauded by teachers and school community.
