Porn, Piracy, Fraud: What Lurks Inside Google’s Black Box Ad Empire

1 January, 2023

This is an extract from an article that I would love all remembers of HIFA to read and would love the Legal Council of WHO also to read and use due diligence before or after it has embarked with this company to forge partnership. The x-director of WHO (Dr Chan) used to say “it’s OK, to have partnerships with the private sector as long as you don’t sleep with them”. Sleeping with the private sector is a huge sin, especially for somebody in the public sector.

QUOTE “It wasn’t Conservative Beaver’s first brush with fabricated news. The site had falsely claimed Barack Obama was arrested for espionage, Pope Francis was arrested for possession of child pornography and “human trafficking,” and the Pfizer CEO’s wife died after being compelled to take a COVID-19 vaccine. As Conservative Beaver pumped out these and other lies, Google placed ads on the site and split the revenue with its then-anonymous owner." UNQUOTE

[*Note from HIFA moderator (NPW): Thank, Najeeb. I note this is a news article. It would be interesting to read objective analyses of Google's impact on healthcare information, and to learn more about WHO's engagement with Google and social media companies, launched early in the pandemic within the first few months of 2020. Those companies promised change, but have they delivered? Meanwhile, for the benefit of those who may not have immediate web access, here are brief abstracts from the news article that Najeeb refers to: 'Google’s ad business hides nearly all publishers it works with and where billions of ad dollars flow. We uncovered a network containing manga piracy, porn, fraud and disinformation... In the nearly half-trillion-dollar digital ad industry, Google sets the rules of the road. More than any other company, Google determines the online ads we see, what they cost and who gets paid for them... Google is the only major ad platform that hides the vast majority of its ad-selling partners... Google’s ad business helps fund dangerous disinformation that puts public health and democracy at risk around the world...' The article does not mention WHO.]
