New Humanitarian: Trump stop-work orders hit local aid and frontline communities (2)

7 February, 2025

Dear Neil,

I already published my thoughts about this order and the role of China as well as how can we use more telemedicine and digital health to fill the gap in Research Gate yesterday. [*see note below]

But of course this will not be the solution which solves all the problems caused by President Trump and his team, as we still need people, material and medication for treatment.

Best

[*Note from HIFA moderator (NPW): Thank you Anna. The abstract states: 'The dismantling of USAID creates a global development vacuum, benefiting China, which can expand its influence through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). While China focuses on infrastructure and financial aid, digital health and telemedicine offer an alternative, particularly in healthcare access, medical training, and public health monitoring. Klughammer’s cost-effective solutions, like Case.io and Telko.live, could help sustain healthcare services where USAID funding has been lost. However, funding constraints, regulatory barriers, and competition from China pose challenges. Success will depend on scalable deployment and strategic partnerships.']
