Lancet CAH: Post-mortem investigation of deaths due to pneumonia in children aged 1–59 months in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia (2)

4 March, 2024

Thank you Neil for reporting this very interesting and relevant study. It is also very partaining to our country as Bangladesh has been included in this study. The findings are different from previous studies. In this S pneumoniae was the commomest in community acquired but next common was K pneumoniae. And multiple pathogens are implicated in 57.8% cases. In case of death due to viral pneumonia,  CMV was found as common organism instead of respiratory syncytial virus. We will be very benefited from these finding and we will change our investigations and treatment of Pneumonia keeping in mind about the new findings.Thank you very much Neil. I am still getting some mail from CHIFA in this address. Thank you again.

Regards.
