Hi All,
I sit on the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions Evidence for Global and Disaster Health Special Interest Group (https://www.ifla.org/units/e4gdh/), and one of my colleagues from the group, Peter Murgatroyd is presenting on "libraries as health and wellbeing hubs" at the Dynamic Coalition on Data Driven Health Technologies (DC-DDHT) | Internet Governance Forum<https://intgovforum.org/en/content/dynamic-coalition-on-data-driven-heal.... His presentation will focus on the IFLA Statement on Universal Access to Healthcare Information as a Human Right and reference the IFLA Brisbane Declaration, the IFLA Trend Report 2024, and also the work of the IFLA E4GDH.
The title of his presentation is "Libraries as health and wellbeing hubs -advocating for equity, inclusion and empowerment", and I thought you might be interested in his key messages, which are:
* Libraries must advocate for equitable access to health information as a human right
* Libraries are trusted sources of information - free from commercial influence, free from political bias or interference. They are well placed to be community hubs of health and wellbeing
* Libraries must prioritise building the capabilities of their communities in both digital literacy and health literacy
* The journey begins with building the capability of library staff and embracing the role as champions and advocates of community health and well being
With best wishes, from,
Caroline
