Join AfroPHC Research Mtg next Tue 5 Apr 2022

31 March, 2022

Dear all

Please join us at the first meeting of the AfroPHC Research Group this year 12-2pm GMT, 1-3pm WAT, 2-4pm CAT/SAST and 3-5pm EAT next Tuesday 5th April 2022.

Dr. Constantine Labongo, a nutritionist from Gulu University, Uganda will share his thoughts on an overview of research in Primary Health Care. In addition Dr Anna Dania of Maastricht University, Netherlands will talk about developing Practice-Based Research Networks, a project for AfroPHC.

We will share progress on the collaborative study with Imperial College London on Digital Health for PHC in Africa, based on group discussions from our Policy Workshop in November 2021. We have been partners in a successful bid to develop the concept of an African Population Cohort Consortium funded by Wellcome Trust, and will use the meetings to explore our participation further.

We are very keen to mentor researchers after being inspired by the Afriwon Research Collaborative mentorship project with young family doctors. See details here https://afrophc.org/afrophc-systems-research/ If you are interested in research mentorship then please indicate your level of interest here [https://forms.gle/hXAcTcZhwr9EEvbP9]. Anyone in the African PHC team can apply as a *Researcher* (whether current university student or not). We are particularly interested, if you have to skills as a *Supervisor* (Masters/PhD and tasks of liaising with student 1-2 weekly (at least mthly) to complete tasks) and/or *Reviewer* (Masters/PhD with tasks of reviewing documents two monthly x 3 in a mentorship cycle). The deadline for the mentorship programme will be end June 2022. The purpose is to guide a novice researcher to complete a proposal ready for ethics submission in 6-12 mths.

We hope that those who are expert teachers of research would reach out to me to help craft the programme and content of the monthly meetings, even developing materials for an online course.

Thanks once again for showing interest in supporting AfroPHC in its research efforts. See details of all the meetings below.
