Introduction: Youssouf AG Mohamed Baye, Mali - Humanitarian health and nutrition

10 September, 2026

Dear HIFA members,

My name is Youssouf AG Mohamed Baye, a Malian public health physician (MD, MPH in Epidemiology) currently working as Health & Nutrition Senior Project Officer at Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in Mali. [*see note below]

Over the past eight years I have worked in humanitarian health and nutrition programming across the Sahel, with field deployments in Gao, Kidal, Ménaka, Mopti, Djenné and Ansongo, and past roles with ICRC, Save the Children, PUI, MSF and INSO.

My current work focuses on restoring essential health and nutrition services for children under five and pregnant/lactating women in conflict- and climate-affected districts, largely through community health worker networks, data systems, and coordination with the Ministry of Health.

I joined HIFA because reliable, well-communicated health information is often the missing link in the hard-to-reach areas where I work — and because I want to learn from and share experience with practitioners facing similar constraints elsewhere.

I speak French, Tamasheq, Sonrhai, Bambara and Peulh, alongside intermediate English, which I hope will be useful for cross-language exchange within the forum.

Looking forward to learning from this community.
