This research impressive to have collected information from 204 countries.
A low rate of 9.3% of patients with depression receiving ideal treatment leaves some way to go.
"The US I intelligence Agency lists 237 countries in total. The United Nations lists 193.
Many other Nations exist apart from the 193 UN recognised sovereign and independent countries that consider themselves fully fledged Nations. BBC Science focus.
Ratcheting up Care with an extra billion people to be catered for by 2037 (9 billion people in 2037 according to tbe UN Population Fund) and another extra billion people by 2058 will be a significant task.
Engaging communities with information and choices seems to be part of the potential solutions. General education as well as information will be necessary. [*see note below]
Good mental health requires good social health In my family doctor experience. Social inclusion and social health seem to be a biological imperative ( " Thinking Big" by Vlive Gamble; Robin Dunbar and John Gowlett).
I felt that social health had to involve the patient in actuve participation in shared business with in one or more positive social groups as well as psychotherapy and medication.

[*Note from HIFA moderator (NPW): In my previous message I wrote 'Meeting the information needs of the general public, caregivers, health workers and policymakers is vital. HIFA stands ready to host a new HIFA Project on this topic in 2025. Contact us if you are interested to discuss options: neil@hifa.org ' A HIFA member wrote to me: 'do you mean that you currently have plans to do so, or that you are soliciting interest from organizational sponsors?'. To clarify, we do not currently have funding for a HIFA Project on Mental Health and we are soliciting interest from relevant organisations and sponsors. Indeed we are seeking support for HIFA Projects generally (structured thematic discussions on priority topics) in 2025 - HIFA Projects provide multiple benefits: they help organisations/sponsors to achieve their objectives around their priority global health issue; they provide HIFA members with a dynamic focus for exploration; and they are the most important source of income for HIFA, thereby sustaining our work through 2025 and beyond.
