Dear HIFA colleagues,
David Werner and his team at HealthWrights have just circulated the latest issue of the HealthWrights Newsletter.
It's great to see that David, a HIFA member, is still going strong at 91 years of age. As I have said before, his groundbreaking book Where There is No Doctor was a revelation for me when I worked briefly as a volunteer medical doctor in rural Peru in 1987. It was then I realised the importance of basic healthcare information - such as knowing to give more fluids, not less, to a child with acute diarrhoea. And this became the impetus for HIFA.
From this newsletter I learned that David is also a very accomplished artist and that he is preparing to publish a richly illustrated new book "The art and odyssey of David Werner: A 90 year adventure".
On behalf of HIFA, I wish David all the best for continued vitality and thank him for the enormous contribution he has made to community and global health.
Best wishes, Neil
