Health Policy Watch: US Drops Six Common Vaccines from CDC Recommendations (3)

9 January, 2026

Dear Neil and friends,

It's sad news.

For example, the Japanese Medical Insurance system is not perfect, but most children can visit clinics freely or at very low cost, including emergency cases. However, the systems in the US are unequal, especially for socioeconomically vulnerable children. So, vaccines are essential.

High-income countries have been working to improve health care, including preventing vaccine-preventable diseases through their national immunisation programmes.

This decision to shrink the vaccine schedule for children is unacceptable.

Kind regards,

Hajime
