Yes it's a very flawed Christian message to believe you should not use medicines and only rely on prayer. In orthodox Christian teaching there is no dualism and it's a top priority for all such leaders and their followers to embrace modern medicine, and to understand prevention and healthy living also.
I and others are currently working on some early initiatives with those Church leaders who are mistaken in this regard, to help get this message across- it would save so many lives.
