Global health communities of practice (CoPs)

12 October, 2023

Dear HIFA colleagues,

I would like to ask your help to identify any global health communities of practice (CoPs).

CoPs are groups of people who share an interest in a topic and share their experience and expertise with each other. HIFA is an example of a CoP. Synonyms include 'discussion forums' and 'listservs' (although some of the latter do not support interaction and are therefore not CoPs). The CoPs we are interested in are inclusive - anyone can take part. CoPs might be using big social media channels such as Facebook or LinkedIn, or they might be independent.

Over the past few years HIFA co-led the development of a directory of global health CoPs which you can see here:

https://leadernet.org/resource/communities-of-practice-for-global-health...(Wenger%202002)

I am sure there are many other CoPs for us to learn about.

Are you a member of a CoP other than HIFA? Please let us know about them and we'll get in touch to explore possibilities for collaboration.

With thanks, Neil
