As far as I know about the situation in India there is lack of clean drinking water for all.

Children are always the worst affected.

The vegetables and other food items too may remain contaminated unless washed thoroughly. Lack of water and awareness of microbes that cause infections maintains the vicious cycle of infections and subsequent symptoms.
