China has been experiencing a dramatic change in the urban landscape. The degree of urbanization of China rose from 36% in 2000 to around 65% in 2021.
However, as one of the most earthquake-prone regions in the world, China faces extremely serious earthquake threats. Unfortunately, more than 50% of the cities and 70% of the large and medium-sized cities located in areas with high earthquake intensity of degree 7 or above. To improve the ability to prevent and minimize earthquake disaster risks, and to reduce earthquake disaster losses, China is currently building a nationwide earthquake early warning system (EEWS) with the largest seismic network in the world. Latest studies have shown that despite some limitations system is successful. Japan is also using this system. Do you have this kind of systems in your country? Turkey is located on fault lines and has higher risk of earthquakes.
