Published by Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics and Istanbul University, Institute of Child Health, the Journal of Child (ISSN 1302-9940 | e-ISSN 1308-8491) aims to contribute to the literature by publishing high quality original articles, reviews focusing on key subjects and contemporary developments, and case reports in the field of child health and diseases.

This issue of the Journal of Child will focus on social pediatrics which is a holistic, and multidisciplinary approach to child health considering the health of the child within the context of their society, environment, school, and family, integrating the physical, mental, and social dimensions of child health and development as well as care, prevention, promotion of health and quality of life and child rights. Social pediatrics acts in 3 areas—child health problems with social causes, child health problems with social consequences, and child health care in society and encompasses four areas of child health care—curative paediatrics, health promotion, disease prevention, and rehabilitation. Traditional pediatrics is necessary but not sufficient for addressing current global challenges to child health. We are calling for original articles and reviews that explore the social dimensions of child health and development in the local and/or global context.

The Journal of Child is an international, scientific, open access, peer-reviewed journal published tri-annually in April, August and December. The publication languages of the journal are Turkish and English. There are no article processing charges or submission fees for any submitted or accepted articles. The journal is indexed in EBSCO Academic Search Complete and TÜBİTAK-ULAKBİM TR Dizin

Full manuscripts in English should be submitted by 1st September 2021. Author guidelines can be found at https://dergipark.org.tr/en/pub/jchild/writing-rules
