AAMMH Monthly Connect and World Maternal Mental Health Day

Dear AAMMH Community,

We hope this email finds you well.

World Maternal Mental Health Day is tomorrow on 6 May 2026, and we are counting on your support to raise awareness. This year's theme is ACT:

Acknowledge the human and economic costs of perinatal mental health problems

Consider what can be done to better support mothers and babies

Treat mental health with the same importance as physical health during maternity

Raising Awareness on World Maternal Mental Health Day

To commemorate, we will be launching a special webpage in collaboration with the Global Alliance for Maternal Mental Health. The link to the webpage will be shared tomorrow and we invite you to explore. There will be posters available to download that you may also post on your social platforms or among your networks.

Monthly AAMMH Connect

As our monthly webinar falls on world maternal mental health, it will be postponed to a later date. This decision has been made to enable our members to attend special events and multiple engagements for world maternal mental health day. Please feel welcome to share with the community about the various engagements and developments that you might be involved in. Our next session will be co-hosted with the African Francophone Alliance for Maternal Mental Health. Please keep an eye out for updates and attend so that we can support our francophone colleagues.

South African Maternal Mental Health Alliance

We are pleased to inform you that the South African Maternal Mental Health Alliance (SAMMHA) had their inception meeting on 21 April. We congratulate Stacey Ann Pillay and Dr Valentina Trivella on their appointment to the AAMMH Executive Committee, where they will serve as country representatives to South Africa. We applaud them and the rest of the South African team for taking steps towards establishing an alliance. We look forward to seeing their growth and success.

We thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Sincerely,

Jacqueline Malombe
