Awarded during the World Health Assembly, this prize is one of the six official WHO awards and the only one presented through a dedicated public ceremony.

The name of the 2026 laureate will be revealed during the Assembly. This year, the prize honors an expert committed to combating neglected tropical diseases, snakebite envenoming, and malaria—critical challenges in global health.

Beyond a traditional award ceremony, this event has been designed as a moment of inspiration and reflection on key global health challenges, structured around four core themes:

* The voice from the field: through the testimony of the laureate, offering insight into the realities of public health on the ground

* One Health: an approach that is transforming how we understand health by connecting human, animal, and environmental dimensions

* Leadership in times of crisis: exploring how to act and lead in the face of health, climate, and geopolitical challenges

* Youth engagement: highlighting the role of the next generation in shaping the future of global health

This ceremony aims to foster dialogue between experts, decision-makers, and young actors, grounded in a shared conviction: despite growing complexity, global health remains a space for action, innovation, and hope.

We look forward to welcoming you in Geneva.

Yours sincerely,
