U.S. Public trust in scientists for cancer associated with political ideologies

According to an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association, 93.7% of Americans who identify as "liberal" trust scientists regarding cancer, compared to 70.5% of those who consider themselves "very conservative." This is likely a combination of correlation (distrusting "intellectuals" leads to distrusting scientists and aligning with far-right Republican views) and causation (being a far-right Republican leads to trusting a Trump administration that fosters conspiracy thinking).

It can be inferred that those who do not trust scientists are more likely to believe false information about cancer.
