LSHTM Event: Health misinformation: unpacked (2) Dr Bot: Why Doctors Can Fail Us and How AI Could Save Lives (12)

Re: https://www.hifa.org/dgroups-rss/lshtm-event-health-misinformation-unpacked

I attended the LSHTM event and asked two questions of the panellists:

1. How do you see AI and tools such as ChatGPT in countering misinformation? My experience is that ChatGPT consistently provides reliable information. Can we expect a future when people will routinely ask ChatGPT to check/get reliable info?

2. How can politicians (including presidents) be held accountable for ignoring the health evidence and spreading disinformation?

I made other comments in the Q&A but these were not 'approved', presumably because they were comments rather than questions. (I note that every contribution that was approved was a question (to the panellists), indicating that all other comments were not allowed. It would be interesting to compare this selective approach with a more freeform chat approach.)

I wasn't able to stay to the end to learn if my questions were answered but the session was recorded and will shortly be available.

I see the two questions as closely linked to our current discussion on AI and Dr Bot.

Integrating the two questions, we might ask: Will the general public in future be able to trust and use AI to counter disinformation and to 'call out' policymakers and others who spread disinformation?

What do you think? Personally, I am highly optimistic about the future of AI.
