Invitation to Norway launch seminar: Cochrane People, Health Systems and Public Health Thematic Group - 4 October 2023

We are very pleased to be able to invite you to the Norway launch of the new Cochrane Thematic Group on People, Health Systems and Public Health

The Thematic Group plans to support the systematic uptake and integration of evidence-based interventions into health and public health systems to improve their impacts for individuals and communities globally. Within Norway, the Thematic Group is based in the Department of Health Sciences <https://www.ntnu.edu/iha>, Ålesund, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

This seminar aims to introduce Cochrane and the Thematic Group and its roles and planned activities to colleagues and stakeholders, and to discuss how we can we embed evidence-informed decision making in health and public health systems worldwide.

Simon Lewin

Co-lead of the Thematic Group

Simon Lewin is a health systems researcher at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) (https://www.ntnu.edu/employees/simon.lewin), the South African Medical Research Council (www.mrc.ac.za) and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (https://www.fhi.no/en/kn/ceir/). He has a keen interest in how research evidence can be used to inform decisions for health systems in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and at the global level in multilateral organisations such as the WHO. As Co-Lead of Cochrane People, Health Systems and Public Health, he has played a key role in strengthening Cochrane’s work in the field of health systems and in developing Cochrane methods for qualitative evidence synthesis. Cochrane is a HIFA supporting organisation and Simon is a member of two HIFA working groups: CHWs; and SUPPORT-SYSTEMS - How can decision-making processes for health systems strengthening and universal health coverage be made more inclusive, responsive and accountable? simon.lewin@ntnu.no
