European Media and Information Fund

1 April, 2021

In an important new step in the battle against infodemics, it was announced today that a European Media and Information Fund has been established to build resilience against online disinformation by strengthening media literacy skills, fighting misinformation and supporting fact checking. The Fund is managed by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in partnership with the European University Institute. The European Digital Media Observatory will act as independent advisor in the formulation of calls, as well as in the evaluation and selection of projects. The multi-donor Fund will have an initial duration of five years, which may be extended. The first donation was 25 million Euros from Google.
