You may not have heard of Swinfen Telemedicine run by the Swinfen Charitable Trust. www.swinfencharitabletrust.org
We are a British Registered Charity running a Telemedicine Programme, now in 76 countries of the developing world. Over 350 hospitals/clinics are registered with us, and over 600 doctors, /nurses/ and other medical workers are also registered. Over 600 volunteer expert medical consultants work with us, responding to cases as they come in over our confidential doctors system. We have been running this charity for 20 years now. Reg 1077879. UK
Awarded the Humanitarian Award of 2018 by the American Telemedicine Association.
We are and have been since the start of our programme, innovative. Starting with a telemedicine link in 1999 to the Centre for Rehabilitation of the Paralysed in Bangladesh. Our expert medical consultants did 28 cases in the first year, and during that year, two other hospitals asked for Telemedicine Links, one in Kathmandu, Nepal, and the other in the Solomon Islands.
Technology allows us to be in touch with a doctor in the far east of Russia, just as easily with a doctor in Burkino Faso in Africa or Mexico.
