Information about the eLearning Africa conference in Rwanda

15 October, 2018

Dear Neil,

please find my text about the eLearning Africa conference in Rwanda and HIFA being mentioned there.

We should think about a presentation about HIFA next year in Abidjan.

Press release:

HIFA being mentioned at the eLearning Africa in Kigali, Rwanda

International experts at the eLearning Africa conference, held end of September in Kigali, Rwanda, expressed optimism about the long-term prospects of the African economy. The reason for this is that there is a new mood of "trust" and a growing understanding among African politicians and employers of the crucial importance of investing in education and training.

"The mood this year has been very striking," says Rebecca Stromeyer, founder of eLearning Africa, Africa's largest conference on technology-based learning and training. "It is quite clear that learners and political leaders from different parts of Africa feel much more confident about the future.

Roland Lindenthal of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) said at the conference that the German government would ensure that at least a quarter of all development aid for Africa would go to promoting education in the future.

More than 1,000 participants from more than 70 countries took part in the conference. Mrs. Anna E. Schmaus-Klughammer, president at One World Medical Network and lecturer and research associate at the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences at ECRI in Pfarrkirchen was one of the participants in Kigali. She was selected by the organizers of the eLearning Africa Congress in Kigali, Rwanda as a speaker. She gave a lecture on "Health Informatics Education in LMICs and Blended Learning in a South-North-South Collaboration", which translated means "Health Informatics Education in Low and Middle Income Countries and Blended Learning in South-North-South Collaboration".

During a presentation Mr. Jan Kennis from the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp, Belgium mentioned HIFA as an important tool for African researchers.

In 2019, eLearning Africa will take place in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

If you have further questions, let me know.

Best

Anna
