BBC: Albino boy kidnapped from his bedroom (4)

11 July, 2018

Dear HIFA colleagues,

Our sister forum HIFA-Portuguese is also discussing the ongoing murders of children with albinism. Here is a message from the forum (with a Google translation in English below)

Sandra Maria Luciano Pozzoli

Enfermeira, Profa. Dra. da Universidade de Marília - São Paulo - Brasil.

Dear Neil, I sympathize with your indignation and believe that we could, as a group of professionals, put pressure on the World Health Organization (WHO) signed for this institution to demand from the Ministry of Health of Mozambique and other countries that still remain with this mentality to develop an intense program of guidance / education in health to dissipate these harmful beliefs to the population.

Thank you for the attention and this space of manifestation. I embrace you and all my colleagues,

Sandra Maria Luciano Pozzoli

Nurse, Profa. Dra. Of the University of Marília - São Paulo - Brazil.

Indeed, what is WHO and the Government of Mozambique doing to address this issue? Whatever it is, it is not enough. These murders have been going on for years and show no sign of abating. Is anyone aware of an existing campaign which we, as HIFA and CHIFA members, can support?

Best wishes, Neil
