The Astana Declaration (12) Traditional medicine

31 October, 2018

Thank you for sharing the declaration. It is good to see “knowledge” as the first priority for the delivery of universal primary health care. Can anyone explain why “traditional” medicine is mentioned more than once, and is contrasted with “scientific” medicine? Is this acknowledgement of local cultural differences, a mild rebuke to the evidence-based medicine movement, or a lifeline for quackery and deceptive, power-based approaches to control, fraud and exploitation?
